Flint & Feather (Joal and Lauren Kamps) are a free-spirited husband and wife duo who are passionate about cultivating community through folk/roots music, storytelling, and laughter. Drawing upon Western Canadian history, Rocky Mountain folklore, and their own colourful life journeys for inspiration, the Kamps create original ‘Rocky Mountain Folk-Pop’ songs that tell stories with an uncommon charm.

First Nation Dancers

Shirley Hill (Anatsipi'kssaakii-Pretty Sound Bird Woman) has been dancing for over 41 years and loves to teach fancy shawl dancing. Luke Whiteman has been dancing Men's Fancy Feather style for 47 years.

Alexa and Julia are Lukes daughters who continue the tradition of hand made regalia and dancing.

​

Amy Hill, Shirley's daughter, will be there to demo beading and assist anyone who wants to try it out.​

Electric Religious

Electric Religious is the disco, pop-rock project of Treaty-6 based, Métis singer-songwriter, Brandon Baker, whose guitar-driven music has been described as “bursting with inspiration, insight, and hope.” Deeply influenced by the psychedelic sounds of Jimi Hendrix, Baker took his moniker from a Hendrix quote: “When I get up on stage, that’s my religion. I am electric religion.”

Photo Walk

Join in our Culture Days Photowalk with other like-minded folks for a little creative, recreation and conversation. Partipants will meet at The Venue downtown, car pool over to Sheppard Family Park for about an hour long shoot and head back to The Venue for refreshments and conversation.

Age: Family and their kids; this session needs kids with parents, or the person has to come with a friend, family or partner—kids from 5 years, teenagers, adults and seniors. Materials: 2 Canvas per person, brushes, acrylic painting, colour papers, scissors, glue, mirror, and colour pencils. 

Duration:2.5 hours 10:00 - 12:30

Description: Each person will recognize themselves through art and the eyes of others. Identity is the base of this workshop to stop thinking If I am beautiful enough and to break the barrier of social and cultural stereotypes.

Age: Family workshop, kids from 5 years, teenagers, adults and seniors. 

Duration: 2 hours 1:00 - 3:00

Materials: Black Foamboard, papers, glue, scissors, colour scissors, Description: Which is your favourite place? Why? What is your room look like? How do you feel about it? Where are we when we feel good, bad, sad, happy, etc?... We talked about our places and built the home of our dreams with a little 3d scenario: 1. Share our experiences, 2. Draw our favourite place/ dream place 3. Build with cardboard and foam board and decorate it.

Join us for an evening of local films! The Filmmaker Mentorship Program ran this summer under the guidance and nurturing of the Okotoks Film Festival Society. Applicants were chosen, mentored, paid and encouraged throughout the summer to complete a film about “Living in the Foothills”. We are excited to share in the fruits of their labour.
